In this comprehensive review of neurology, topics ranging from strokes to movement disorders are covered. The book is organized in sections starting with symptoms then sections of categories of the various disorders (such as trauma). This provides much ease in searching for a topic. The purpose is to provide an efficient guide to approaching neurological disorders. I found this to be very helpful in referencing various cases seen in clinical practice. The target audience ranges from residents to physicians at the attending level. Internists, physiatrists, family practitioners, and neurologists would find this very helpful. It may be too detailed for medical students to read. The description, clinical signs, pathophysiology, treatment, and prognosis of various diseases are included. The chapters are nicely broken down into small, readable sections. This makes ""browsing"" much easier with the limited time we all have to read. The one limitation is the appearance of the cover along with the lack of illustrated references. Stylistic qualities are lacking, so when a researcher might be choosing a reference, it would be easy to overlook this text on the bookshelf. The prior edition was much more interesting to have on the bookshelf. Also, there are very few pictures. The drawings that are included are very basic and not of good quality. This is a good review of the many topics in neurology. Some of the pitfalls I have mentioned above. The writing and layout of the previous edition was better; that is to say, the book was more aesthetically pleasing. The new edition lacks some of that character. In terms of content, an ample amount of review of the many diseases is provided.This book would be very helpful for all physicians interested in maintaining some knowledge of neurological disorders. When compared to the various texts that are available for reference for neurology, this is by far one of the best. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in neurology.
